A look at Corsair’s chemical recycling facility
In Bangkok stands a facility that gives plastic waste a second life. Corsair’s Chemical Recycling plant converts plastic waste daily into so-called Advanced Bio-oil — an oil with properties comparable to crude petroleum.
What happens to this oil?
The produced bio-oil has two important applications. On one hand, it can be processed into more environmentally friendly transportation fuels. On the other hand, it serves as raw material for the production of new plastic products. This way, plastic remains in the circular economy and reduces dependence on fossil sources.
Chemical recycling offers a solution for plastic types that are difficult to process through traditional mechanical recycling. By breaking plastic down to its molecular building blocks, opportunities arise for high-quality reuse.
